Back in the Day

I was a counselor at Camp Henry Pratt in Columbus. I have many memories of those fun days.  One of my campers, Ruby Jane, was deathly allergic to dairy.  To ease her mother's thoughts, I took it upon me to make sure Ruby Jane did not ingest anything that had the scent of cow. Since those days, she has become quite the artist.  In 2005, Ruby Jane became the youngest invited fiddler in history to play the Grand Ole Opry, sharing the stage with Opry legend Mike Snider.  Now 16, she plays 11 different instruments and has played at many other venues including another stint at the Grand Ole Opry and Lollapalooza.

Last night, she played at Hill Country in Chinatown, so Lo and I, along with our buddies, Jackson and MVB, went down to grab some bbq and listen to Ruby Jane. And boy did she rock it. Below are a couple of pics and videos of her performance.

Not sure what this anon couple is doing.....

A little singing.

Then a fiddle rock out.

Great night.

Friday Afternoon Tune

I received an email this afternoon from Brother Sam Waters and the following video was linked to it. Since then, I have listened to it 100 times. The original version by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is quite amazing, but this duo really knows how to make you smile. The best part is around 1:47 listen in to see how cute she is. They are very talented. Happy Friday.

Old Skewl Music

While at work today, I decided to play a little Pandora. I clicked on my Widespread Panic station and began my easy listening. A few hours into it, the song below came on and I was instantly taken back to the 90's with this tune. I had to post because I am sure it brought many of you the same happiness and like myself, have not heard this song in some time. Enjoy.

Day Brightener or Social Gathering Background Music.....

Ever had one of those days where nothing went right and all you wished for was something to make it better OR in need of music that works with a dinner party (not too elevator-ish, but not the genre that makes you want to jump on tables)? Well, I have just the music for you. Michael Bublé's It's Time. Lauren and I listen to it all the time. Not because we are constantly needing things to get better or that we have numerous social gatherings, but because it is a great collection of songs. If you like Frank Sinatra then his music you will like. You should definitely check it out. Put it on repeat and your good to go with wine or whatever keeps you sane.
